Pharmalogical Actions

  • ANTICOAGULANT ACTIVITY: Curcumin shows anticoagulant activity by inhibiting collagen and adrenaline-induced platelet aggregation in vitro as well as in vivo in rat thoracic aorta. [i]
  • ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITY: In vitro, and in vivo studies demonstrate turmeric’s effectiveness at decreasing both acute and chronic inflammation making it beneficial in managing conditions such as urticaria, pruritus (itching) associated with allergic skin rashes, eczema, and contact dermatitis. .[ii]
  • ANTIDIABETIC EFFECT: Decreases blood sugar level in alloxan-induced diabetes in rats and also decreases advanced glycation end products induced Complications in diabetes mellitus.[iii]
  • PHOTO-PROTECTOR ACTIVITY: Has also been shown to inhibit the mutagenic induction effect of UV rays [iv]
  • Cough of Varied Etiology: Haridra possesses expectorant properties, which can help alleviate coughs of various origins[v].
  • Dermal Allergies and Rashes: Haridra anti-allergic effects make it effective in managing dermal allergies and rashes triggered by pollutants, dust, occupational irritants, or infective origins[vi].
